Fathoms is an intimate six room hotel located directly on Manhasset Bay, on the North Shore of Long Island. Because of our small size we can offer an extremely high level of both privacy and individualized customer experience. We are easily accessible by car, rail or boat. While we occupy an extremely tranquil location Manhattan is a mere 19 miles away, creating infinite possibilities for work or play. Our Marina has transient slips and public moorings available. HISTORY
Fathoms is built on the original site of the famed Knickerbocker Yacht Club.
The Knickerbocker Yacht Club was founded in 1874 on the Harlem River to encourage “yachting and the cultivation of naval science and seamanship.” Claimed to be the second-oldest yacht club on the Long Island Sound, it migrated from its original Manhattan location to Port Washington in 1907. Some firsts of the yacht club include the concept of winter "frostbite racing" in the 1930's, and establishment in 1982 of the Knickerbocker Cup yacht race that attracted top sailors from around the world.
